JUNIOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010
2010 NSW Age Surf Lifesaving Championships
and the winner is ............... MANLY!!
After a 12 year winning streak, Cronulla relinquished its leading position at the NSW Junior Surf Life Saving state titles to the mighty Manly LSC Nippers at Blacksmiths Beach at Swansea Belmont, in the Hunter.
With 115 competing clubs and more than 3,500 nippers, we took to the beach and water for what is this year’s largest surf sports event in the country and after three days of extensive competition across the U8’s to U14’s age group, we have won the championship for the first time in four decades as a junior club.
The win was by an impressive 30 points over our nearest rival Wanda. Manly had success among all the age groups, with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals won in individual and team events across both beach and water events.
As a club we also won the prestigious inaugural All-age Board Relay and March Past events. With the second largest contingent of competitors, 195 Nippers kept up the Manly spirit with the Sky Blue cap featuring in many quarter finals, semi finals and finals.
